     Professional Career Development Network
Helping long-term unemployed professionals find good jobs.

Learn...Grow...Compete...Succeed!

The Professional Career Development Network, Inc.

The Professional Career Development Network is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit corporation founded to help fund the cost of job search activities for long term unemployed professionals.

Since the recession began in 2008, many professionals who lost their jobs have found it difficult to re-enter the workforce.  As of January 2012, 5.5 million workers had been unemployed for six months or longer, and nearly 2 million of those had been jobless for 99 weeks or longer -- beyond the reach of unemployment insurance.

The process of conducting a successful job search, especially for the experienced professional, can be long and arduous. An unprepared job seeker will find the process humbling, leaving him or her to feel ill-equipped to negotiate a successful job search.

Here are some staggering statistics on the employment market:

- There are still 5.5 million people out of work for six months or longer. That's enough to fill the state of Minnesota. Another 6 million people who should be in the labor force have stopped looking for work entirely. It's safe to assume many of them dropped out of the market for jobs because they were unemployed for so long. Taken together, it's an 11 million-person crisis, big enough to fill Ohio.

-
Fully 42 percent of unemployed workers older than 55 have been out of work for at least a year. That's the highest share of any age category. As a general rule, the older the unemployed, the longer the duration of their unemployment.

- According to a Rutgers University survey of the unemployed, more than half of the Great Recession victims who have found jobs are making less money. Nearly one-third are making more than 30 percent less.

The mission of the Professional Career Development Network, Inc. is to raise funds from corporate, government and private sources to help subsidize the cost of job transition services for long-term unemployed professionals.

Through your participation in our organization, you will be helping long-term unemployed professionals to move from job transition to gainful employment in their chosen field.

This is a great opportunity and responsibility that we humbly and confidently welcome.

We hope you will too.
